Frequently Asked Questions

At this point, you've likely heard about or run into a product containing cannabidiol, also known as CBD. From drinks and lotions to chewable gummies, CBD can now be found in drug stores across America. CBD is thought to be a holistic alternative to medications that can be used to help regulate various physiological processes within the body, and has been shown to be a safe and effective option for many conditions including chronic pain and inflammation. Arthritis & Sports has seen the advantages that CBD can offer its patients, so we have partnered with Lucent Valley to offer trustworthy CBD products from a trustworthy source. While many people have heard about CBD, many people still don't really know what CBD is. So we thought we would take some time to answer:

Q: What is CBD and how does it work?

A: CBD, short for cannabidiol, is the primary cannabinoid found in Lucent Valley products. It is one of over 100 naturally-occurring cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, and is among the most thoroughly researched alongside THC. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that occur naturally in the human body, and actively interact with cannabinoid receptors located throughout the human body. When CBD binds to these receptors, it triggers various physiological actions that help to regulate your appetite, pain sensation, mood, and memory.

Q: How is CBD different from marijuana?

A: While CBD is a naturally-occurring component of marijuana, it does not cause a "high" like some may think. The CBD we offer is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. Industrial hemp is defined by US law as cannabis having 0.3% or less delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content by dry weight.

Q: What is Lucent Valley?

A: Lucent Valley is a trusted company in the hemp industry, comprised of health care professionals with broad experience within the pharmaceutical industry. We are one of the original companies who worked to legitimize the hemp oil as a holistic alternative in the United States. Our brand of clinically driven, broad-spectrum, hemp-derived CBD products are only available through healthcare professionals. These highly concentrated formulations are wrapped in multiple layers of technology designed to enhance the potential for therapeutic effect.

Q: How is Lucent Valley manufactured?

A: Lucent Valley products are medical grade, cultivated and manufactured in the United States, and formulated to promote maximum absorption of CBD. Lucent Valley follows the FDA's Good Manufacturing Practices and the USDA's guidelines from seed to sale. The plants used to make the products are the highest purity, organic, naturally grown, non-GMO hemp.

Q: What is the difference between broad- and full-spectrum CBD?

A: If an extract is full-spectrum, this means it contains all phytochemicals naturally found in the plant, including CBD, trace cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils. Full-spectrum extracts from hemp also come with a negligible THC content — below 0.3% Although non-psychoactive, full-spectrum CBD can give you a false positive during a drug test, especially if you consume high doses of CBD oil daily. That’s when the broad-spectrum CBD comes in. Like full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol and all the other compounds within the plant. However, it goes through an additional process to remove the trace amounts of THC, completely removing it after the initial extraction. This is why Lucent Valley uses broad-spectrum oil in all of our products.

Q: What dosage should I take?

A: Everyone is unique and the fact remains that everyone is in a different place and will react differently to their CBD dosage. As dosage of CBD differs for each person, it is best to start small and gradually increase at a comfortable level until you experience the desired result. Our bottle dosage to start is one gummy, twice daily.

Q: Who shouldn't take CBD products?

A: Pregnancy and breastfeeding: There is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking products containing cannabidiol if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should avoid taking CBD products like Lucent Valley. Parkinson’s disease: Cannabidiol may make muscle movement and tremors worse in people with Parkinson’s disease. Therefore, CBD products like Lucent Valley should be avoided in patients with Parkinson’s. History of hypersensitivity to cannabidiols or any of the ingredients in the product.
